5Great Product. Exceeded Expectations.

With the sd card slot, there is no need to connect this scanner to a computer and therefor I didn't have to deal with any included software. Just left the cd in the box. I used this scanner without a computer to scan my slides. I used aaa batteries for portability, and I also used the included power cord when I was near an oulet to save on money buying batteries. The quality of the scanner is great! The scan of a slide is so fast that at first I didn't even know it scanned. You literally push a button and it's done that second. There is no noise. Once I was done scanning all of my slides, I simply took the sd card out of the scanner and into a card reader to my computer. The files were all in standard jpeg format where any program on your computer could read the files.

5Fast scanning but instructions are very poorly written.
By Tina from Brooklyn
First time I ever used a slide scanner so can't compare it to others. But extremely fast scanning, about 2 seconds per slide.
Would have been nice to have slide holder with more than 3 slots but holder was easy to use.
My only complaint was the instruction manual- I had trouble knowing exactly what to do and how to switch from screen to screen (eg., save image, delete, transfer to computer) but did figure it all out after a few tries.
Use a memory card; faster than using scanner for memory since after about 6 slides scanner memory was full.
No problem transferring images to my Apple computer.
Yes I would recommend buying it and loved seeing my 40 year old slides on my computer screen.

3Some malfunctions . . .
By D. Edwards
I got this for my father's Christmas present. He has lots of slides from the 50s and 60s that he has stored away and I thought he'd enjoy easier access to the photos. We set it up and I started scanning the slides. When I went to run slide show, it showed the group that I had originally scanned but not ones that I added later. However, when I took the memory card out of the scanner and put it in a camera, they all showed up. I'm not sure I understand why this is happening. I popped the card back into the scanner to see if all of the images could now be seen but, once again, it only showed me the ones I had originally scanned. I opted for this particular product because it mentioned it could be operated as a stand-alone item without a computer program. I gave it 3 stars because it scanned each slide quite quickly and it was easy to operate. However, I had wanted to buy something that would be hassle-free. This isn't hassle-free. I'm not impressed.
