5Great product
By Blritton
I purchased this product to do 46 boxes of slides. I wasn't too sure how well the product would work after reading the reviews some users left but opted to give it a try. I have to say, wolverine made an outstanding product. The menu is easy to navigate and the controls are very intuitive. Some issues that other users may have had: over exposure, dusty slides, and not properly placing the slide on the fixture. After doing about 6000 pictures I have to say the product is tested and durable. Excellent product if you have the time to spare using it.

3It does the job, but is missing some important features
By R. Gould
Having run a few slides and negatives through the scanner I can say that its scan quality seems to be fine. There are a few tricks that aren't explained except by product support, such as the ability to zoom a bit (I wasn't getting quite all of the slides in the picture) among others, but the main deficiencies I find so far are as follows.
1. You can only scan to the internal memory or SD card. You cannot scan directly to the computer, nor can you see the image being scanned using your computer. That means you also cannot do any interactive picture work such as color balance or brightness using your computer prior to the scan.
2. The picture adjustment menu lets you adjust brightness and various color parameters, but the image you are working on is not visible when using that menu, so you can't tell what the results are til you scan (or maybe until you are ready to scan). Getting back and forth between the image screen and the adjustment menu screen takes multiple steps pushing different buttons, so it is unwieldy. Best bet is to just use the defaults and do all modifications after the fact in Photoshop or something similar.
3. My negatives didn't register properly with the provided registration pins, but they have another negative holder without registration pins as an option that would allow you to get the negative right where you want it.
4. As with basically all of the scanners you are limited to 4 slides or 6 negatives, which means a lot of loading and unloading, but that it just the nature of the beast unless you pay a LOT of money.

If you want to sit at the dinner table and scan, the SD card is a great feature, but I just plugged the USB cord into my hub and then was frustrated at the inability to have a computer interface.

I scanned some bad negatives and was not pleased with the results, but I don't think that was the scanner's fault.

Wolverine tech support is VERY prompt and responsive and very helpful.

5Easy to use and does a great job
By Geoffrey S. Barnard
Just bought this and found it very easy to operate. Be sure to get multiple slide trays (I got 4 for slides and 1 for negatives). This makes things go much faster. Also, don't bother to flip the slides from horizontal to vertical on the Wolverine itself. It's much easier to do once you download them onto your computer.
