I received this as a Christmas gift and have since used it with both slides and film. The device comes with two trays that you put the negatives/slides into as well as a disc of software to scan the images into your computer.

Pros:

- It is small, roughly a bit bigger than a big automatic pencil sharpener, so fits easily and inconspicuously on your desk.
- Scans items very quickly, perhaps under a minute, and does a fairly good job with the image.
- Very easy to use.
- Software boots very quickly, under a minute.

Cons:

- The biggest con with this item is the software, which leaves MUCH to be desired. First, there is no option to scan multiple items (stupid since almost all negatives and slides are strips) so you have to scan each image separately and the software has to restart every time you scan a new image. Second, it is very limited; allowing you to tweak with exposure and brightness only and the only colour options are the images original colours or black and white. Not a huge deal with editing software so available, but surprisingly bare.
- After you've put your slides/negatives into the trays, you have to push them through manually, one at a time, while pushing the scan button. This isn't a big deal nor uncommon for these devices, except that there is no way to view if the image is in the right location until you pre-scan it. The tray "clicks" into place, but even then the image is not always in the right place and you end up having to readjust it by cm back and forth while pre-scanning it in order to get the image just right.
- It saves to the desktop. In fact, there isn't even an option in the software to select WHERE you want it to save to! So all images have to be saved in the same place, which appears to default to the desktop. Haven't yet found a way to direct it to a different location, which is very annoying when your scanning 20+ images.

Overall, I am slightly disappointed in the performance of the device. Adesso is not new to the industry and could have created much better software without adding much more to the size (in fact, just adding a "save" or "next scan" option would have been enough along with a "save to"). For the price this item costs it doesn't have the features I would expect, instead it has the features of one I would expect to pay half the cost for.
